With a power output of 262 MW and a storage capacity of around 981 MWh, the facility will be by far the largest battery energy storage facility in Poland and one of the largest in Europe. The contractor on the project will be LG Energy Solution Wrocław.
The Krakow-Leg power station began operating in 1970 and provides heating and electricity to the city of Krakow. The plant is operated by the EC Krakow company and was originally owned by the Electricite de France (EdF) group, who sold it to the group PGE in 2017.

In addition to updating the data for 2020-2023, the database has gained new columns with more information and new functions.
Polish utility PGE Group is planning to add more than 80 energy storage facilities through to 2035 to the tune of PLN 18 billion ($4.7 billion). One of these will be the 981 MWh Zarnowiec battery energy storage project, which will be supplied with locally produced LG Energy Solution’s grid-scale systems.
